Butterfly Magnets

The weather around here has been amazing. It certainly doesn't feel like February. More like spring. So much so that we were inspired to make these butterfly magnets.
I remember making these, or something similar, in elementary school. It was just as fun as I remembered.
Here's everything you'll need:

Coffee filters
Magnet tape strips
Washable Markers
Clothes pins
googly eyes
glue
a small cup of water
First thing to do is glue a magnet on the back of each clothes pin. I cut each of my strips into thirds. While it dries a bit you can start the really fun part.

Color one side of your coffee filter however you like with the washable markers. You might want to put something under them. The marker bleed through onto the table. We just wiped it off when we were all done.

After you finish coloring them you want to fold them up nice and small. The smaller they were folded down the better the water absorbed up. We had some we didn't fold over this small and had to dunk them in the water to get all the way to the end of them. It made a bigger mess than needed. After the whole filter is wet, gently unfold it and leave it on something like newspaper to dry. They dry rather quickly. If you get impatient you can hit them with a hair dryer.

These were ours when they were done drying. The ones that were decorated with more marker turned out a bit nicer.

Next, find the center of your filter and scrunch it up from one end to the other. After that, clip it with the clothes pin.

Last, decorate the side of the clip that doesn't have the magnet. Ours are kinda basic, but worked for use.
You could jazz them up more with glitter and things.

We put our finished butterflies on the dishwasher. Our fridge is currently covered in other "masterpieces".
If you've read this all the way to the end, THANK YOU! This is my first blog post. Thank you for dealing with my horrible grammar, bad spelling, bad cell phone pictures, ect. I'm sure you could make a drinking game out of it and take a shot for every mistake you can find and be thoroughly sloshed before the half way
point. If I figure out how to turn comments on for this, feel free to point them all out.
Once again thank you, thank you, thank you!
