Sausage Gravy

I love sausage gravy. I'll eat it on biscuits, toast, pancakes, with nothing but a spoon. Love it! Here is a quick, easy, slightly altered version, my mom always made. I do like mine with a higher meat to gravy ration compared to others. If you don't like it that way just add more milk than is stated.

Here's what you'll need:

1 Pound ground sausage

1 Tablespoon butter

2 Teaspoons red pepper flakes (optional)

1 1/2 Tablespoons flour

2 cups milk

salt and pepper to taste

The first thing you'll do is brown your sausage in a skillet, pot, or whatever it is you prefer on medium heat.

Cooked Sausage with melting butter

After your meat is cooked, add the tablespoon of butter and your red pepper flakes, if you're using them. My Mom would tell you I just ruined it by adding the red pepper, but I like it better this way. I'll never tell her that's how I prefer it, Mom rules and all of that stuff.

Let the butter melt all through and stir it around.

After your butter melts, add in the flour. Stir it all around constantly until it becomes a nice golden brown. It normally takes only a couple minutes, at most. Then, immediately add your milk and stir it all in. Salt and pepper to taste. Let it simmer until it reaches your desired thickness. If it gets too thick you can add more milk a tablespoon at a time until it gets where you want it.

Voila, put it atop whatever you like your gravy on top of and enjoy!

Thanks for reading, and putting up with my bad pics, and poor spelling and grammar. Yell at me about it in the comments if you want.
